The small plane is a Bailey Defiance No. 4 built between 1878 and 1884.
The large plane is a Stanley Bailey No. 5 Type 14 made between 1929 and 1930.
I honed both irons using the Scary Sharp Method of Sharping all the way to 2000 grit paper. I also lapped the sole
and sides to 600 grit Silicon Carbide paper. I lapped the sides so they would be true and square if I want to use
shooting boards.

undergoing sharpening.

tools in various states of cleaning. With the exception
of the marking gauges, everything in this picture is at
least 50 years old and some over 100.
